Samara Lubelski - Future Slip

So I got a trifecta of good stuff from Ecstatic Peace recently (including Hush Arbors and White Out). This time, it's Samara Lubelski's fifth album, Future Slip.

As I was unaware of Lubelski prior to this release, the music came as a little surprise to me in the sense that I wasn't sure what to expect. What I heard was a beautiful landscape of sound where Lubelski's subdued vocals paint the picturesque views of everything that is beautiful in this life. The music is quite simply comforting at a level where most artists fail to reach.

Lubelski delivers a warm sound that endears you to her voice, music and thoughts. At 10 songs, Future Slip is a quick listen and very easy to fall in love with. Add in the many helping hands on Future Slip, like Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth, PG Six and Willie Lane, and you've got a large contingency of crafty, if not unique, songwriters and performers who help make Lubelski's work shine.

Looking for a starting point, I'd recommend "Culture King '66" and "The Trip Is Out," both perfectly harness what Lubelski can accomplish in her songs and they may be among the most "commercially available" tracks on the album.

Coming from the Ecstatic Peace family means you won't be hearing Lubelski on most "alt-rock" stations. Future Slip has that same behind the curtain feel that comes from numerous luminaries like Lubelski that make this album wonderfully delicious.
